Challenge
Since viewer behavior had shifted toward multi-device, on-demand consumption, TrueVisions faced pressure to embrace online video. Naturally, the provider was seeking to modernize its legacy architecture to deliver a fully digital competitive online video service through the new TrueVisions NOW brand, an independent OTT platform. TrueVisions NOW previously existed as a sub-brand within TrueID, which caused confusion and underdelivered in terms of user experience.
The goal was to consolidate the brand, streamline the customer experience, and meet the digital expectations of today’s viewers. In tech terms, it meant allowing for greater flexibility in content packaging, improving monetization opportunities, and delivering a modern user experience across multiple screens. A tight timeline demanded a global launch within 6 months, already counting on multiple integrations with third-party services, with further enhancements to follow in phased releases.
To sum up, the challenge was to launch a fully branded, flexible, and future-proof streaming service in under six months that could compete effectively in a crowded market with global and regional OTT players.
Solution
Setplex delivered a cloud-based OTT platform powered by its SaaS version of Nora middleware, deployed on AWS Public Cloud. The platform supported full content and subscription management, enhanced UI/UX, and a self-service portal with a shopping cart to drive upsell opportunities. NoraGO multi-screen applications, branded specifically for TrueVisions NOW, were deployed across iOS, Android, Web, Android TV, Apple TV, LG, VIDAA, and Samsung SmartTVs.
To accommodate both existing customers and new users, Setplex deployed NoraGO multi-screen applications, branded specifically for TrueVisions NOW, across iOS, Android, Web, Android TV, Apple TV, LG, VIDAA, and Samsung SmartTVs.
The revamped platform seamlessly integrates with existing infrastructure, including a streaming CDN, TrueID single sign-on (SSO), various payment gateways (e-wallets, credit cards), and analytics tools such as Firebase, MoEngage, and AppsFlyer. It also supports bundling with other telco services from True Move, True Online, and DTAC, while functioning as a content super-aggregator through integrations with global OTT providers like MAX, iQIYI, WeTV, and Viu.
Successes
The launch of TrueVisions NOW in May 2024 completed TVS’s transformation from a legacy broadcaster to a competitive OTT player with minimal friction.
As a result of this brand upgrade, TrueVisions NOW is the exclusive partner in the region for the provision of live sports coverage of major events including F1 and MotoGP, football from major European leagues, NFL football, NBA basketball, Wimbledon and the US Open tennis, and the Ryder Cup and The Open golf.
The TrueVisions NOW service integrates global online video subscription services, including MAX, together with iQIYI from Baidu, Viu from PCCW, Canal+, and We TV, offering a wide range of entertainment in Thai and other languages, with more partners to be added. It is available for download as an app across phones, tablets, televisions, and TrueID set-top boxes.
Some tangible results for the project include:
- Rapid time-to-market with a fully operational SaaS OTT platform in under 6 months.
- 850,000+ new users onboarded in the first 15 months.
- Expanded monetization through subscription, PPV, telco bundles, and in-app upsells.
- Expanded presence to a multi-screen, multi-language service, enabling the customer to deliver its offering across all major device platforms, reaching viewers anytime, anywhere, in their preferred language
- Extended regional reach, driving digital adoption and long-term scalability.
