
Challenge
In the lead-up to Copa América 2024, Venezuela’s Televen faced the market demand to extend its traditional linear offering and launch a full-featured digital OTT platform and unlock new monetization opportunities. The ambitious goal was not only to transition from a traditional broadcaster into a leading digital content provider in the region, but to do it in time for Copa América 2024, a premier continental football tournament expected to draw millions of viewers.
The platform needed to:
- Handle massive traffic spikes during live events with minimal latency.
Deliver seamless, high-quality viewing across mobile and smart TV ecosystems. - Enable new monetization models beyond traditional advertising.
- Go live within a compressed timeframe, with minimal infrastructure overhaul.
The stakes were high: success would cement Televen as a leader in the industry, while failure risked losing both longtime viewers and a new online audience.
Solution
At the heart of the Televen Stream launch was a tightly coordinated collaboration between Setplex and its strategic technology partners, each contributing essential components that made the platform’s rapid rollout and high-performance delivery possible.

Delivered the core OTT architecture with Nora middleware for content and subscription management, Streampool adaptive CDN for elastic scalability and load balancing, and a full suite of multi-screen applications to ensure seamless viewing across Android, AndroidTV, iOS, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Samsung, and LG Smart TVs.

Served as the regional systems integrator and project co-lead, orchestrating local implementation and ensuring the deployment met technical and operational requirements within an aggressive two-month timeline.

Powered the live event coverage with cloud-native IP signal delivery, transmitting real-time, high-quality live streams directly from Copa América stadiums to the OTT platform.

Enabled server-side ad insertion (SSAI) for dynamic ad replacement, delivering a seamless monetization layer without compromising the user experience, especially critical during live broadcasts.
Aniview
Complemented the monetization strategy by providing robust AVOD tools, unlocking new revenue streams through targeted, programmatic video advertising.
Fastly and CDN77
Strengthened the content delivery backbone with multi-CDN support, ensuring low-latency performance and adaptive load distribution, particularly during high-traffic events like match kick-offs.
Successes
This project was a landmark success and a milestone for Televen in its strategic shift from traditional broadcasting to fully digital content delivery. It enabled the broadcaster to engage a new generation of viewers across mobile, smart TVs, and streaming devices.
Thanks to effective partnerships and rapid deployment, Televen was able to scale fast, monetize efficiently, and deliver a consistent user experience during one of the most high-traffic sporting events in Latin America. The platform achieved:
- Over 43 million impressions and 1.3 million app installations within weeks of launch.
